Accredited Homes

It is a requirement of the Aged Care Act 1997 that all residential aged care homes be accredited in order to receive Commonwealth residential care subsidies.

Under the Act, the Department of Health and Ageing has the power to continue to provide residential care subsidies, for up to six months, to services that are not accredited if the Secretary of the Department or her delegate determines that exceptional circumstances exist.
